Support your teams: Two Detroit teams heading to SXSW for Chevy Roadtrip challenge

Detroit teams for ChevySXSW Road Trip ChallengeLast year, Chevy did their first SXSW (South by Southwest) Roadtrip challenge. 10 teams from around the country drove to Austin, and had to complete challenges along the way. The winning team was none other than Team Detroit.

This year, there are two Detroit teams, Team MotownSXSW and Team HighfiveSXSW. Each team consists of four locals who are going to represent Detroit on the 2011 Chevy Roadtrip Challenge.

There will be a total of 11 challenges that are judged on creativity. The teams don’t know what the rest of the challenges are yet, but the first was to creatively raise money for Adopt-a-Classroom. Team MotownSXSW held an Eat-a-thon recently in which they would eat anything in exchange for donations to Adopt-a-Classroom. They successfully raised $400 for the charity.

Last year, when Team Detroit won the challenge, Chevy sponsored a huge party for the community at the Majestic Theater in Detroit. Nobody is sure what the prizes will be this year.

Support your home teams by following along on Twitter and Facebook, or subscribing to their blogs. No matter what, there will be lots of entertaining and funny content from the teams as they drive across the country in Chevy vehicles. Consider it a local reality TV show that takes place on the web.

Best of luck to both Detroit teams!
