How bout spicing up your week with a little bit of Monday fun! I know how crazy this sounds, but Monday’s don’t always have to mean an end to that awesome weekend you just had! This article shown in the Clawson Patch reminds us there is something fun to do almost every night of the week, we just have to find the hot spots like the Black Lotus Brewery in Clawson!
It was a cool Monday night in October as Greg Blucher and Peter Singel, two regular participants at Black Lotus Brewing Company‘s open mic night, took the stage with guitars in hand. They began strumming “Stairway to Heaven.” Moments later, musicians from the crowd joined them on stage, playing drums, bass guitar and the keyboard.
The big surprise came as DJ Invisible, rapper Xzibit’s disc jockey, took the stage and began a record-scratching solo over the classic Led Zeppelin song.
Though most Monday nights don’t offer a celebrity jam session, Black Lotus’ Open Mic Night typically features local, regional and even national artists like Shawn Blackman, who performed at Detroit’s Orchestra Hall in September.
Recently celebrating its fourth-year anniversary, the “Lotus” has become one of downtown Clawson’s popular bars. At its location on the corner of East 14 Mile Road and North Main Street, the micro-brewery and restaurant has made its name on high-quality craft beers with names like “Detroit Hip-Hops Pale Ale” or “People Mover Pilsner.“
We’d love to know… have you checked out Black Lotus on a Monday night yet?
